Robin is one of my very special friends, she is a very pretty bird who is getting ready to lay her eggs. Robin visits me each year when the weather gets warm and quickly becomes very busy gathering grass, mud, twigs, and branches.
She's working hard to build her cozy nest right in one of my branches. It's her special place where she'll soon lay her bright blue eggs.
My branches and leaves make the perfect hideaway for her and her soon-to-be little chicks.
Mrs. Jones welcomes my friend Robin and feeds her and some of the other birds. She makes bird food treats for them and hangs it in one of my branches. My friend Robin loves the tasty treats. Here is how Mrs. Jones makes her treats!
The adventure continues in about two weeks, I can hear little bird peeps in my branches. I think that is when the eggs hatch. My friend Robin works very hard to keep her babies safe in the nest when she goes out to find food.
It takes the baby birds a couple more weeks before they are strong enough to leave their nest and start to fly on their own. They use my branches to help them get ready to spread their wings and fly.
Here are some pictures of the baby birds and how Robin cares for them.
