Learn what happens when it gets cold. My friend Robin and her family just left a couple of weeks ago to fly to where it is warmer. All my leaves are almost gone and the days feel shorter.

My friend Oliver the squirrel made a nest far up in my tree and tells me it's time for both of us to slow down. I am tired now that my leaves are gone and it's getting colder.

I can tell that Oliver is tired too, he collects my acorns and other nuts so he can eat them during the winter. Sometimes another squirrel friend that Oliver meets will join him for a long winter's rest.

As the first snowflakes fall, my branches, once filled with leaves, are now are covered with snow.

I plan for the winter season all year and I have lots of water in my tree trunk to keep me nourished and feeling warm.

Winter is a fun time for adventure, but also time to rest. The children from the Jones house love to run and play in the snow covered yard. They sled, build forts, snowman and even throw snowballs.

Sometimes during the winter Mr. Jones will put colorful lights around my tree trunk. He is always very careful to not take off any of my bark. He will turn the lights on at night and it's a great adventure to shine bright!

Thank you so much for reading about all my adventures! I hope you learned something new about trees and you are planning your own adventures outside.
